Below is a list of reputable data collectors and the most current reports available across the United States.

Each report describes how breastfeeding rates in the state/territory and other measures compare to national levels, lists the coalitions serving communities in the state, and highlights state and community-based lactation projects made possible through federal funding in 2021 and 2022.

CDC’s Breastfeeding Report Card, 2022 provides a compilation of data on breastfeeding practices and supports in all states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

CDC’s national survey of Maternity Practices in Infant Nutrition and Care (mPINC) assesses maternity care practices and provides feedback to encourage hospitals to make improvements that better support breastfeeding. 

The National Immunization Survey-Child (NIS-Child) uses random-digit dialing to survey US households with children aged 19-35 months.

Birth certificate data from 2018–2019 National Vital Statistics System were used to determine the percentage of live infants who initiated breastfeeding. 

This dashboard contains information related to the participants receiving services with the Missouri WIC program. The data is available in real time from the past 5 years.

Infant Feeding in the United States Data Project

The Missouri Breastfeeding Coalition is currently conducting a simple survey as part of a national effort sponsored by the United States Breastfeeding Committee. This survey tool aims to empower organizations like yours ​to collect and analyze real-time trending data on infant feeding experiences from the patients, clients, customers, group members, etc., served by your organization.  We need your help to collaboratively grow the impact and reach.
