Access to Lactation Care Is Being Blocked! Families with Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage are facing a serious barrier to lactation care, and it’s harming parents and babies. Currently, IBCLCs (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants) are unable to become in-network providers with many BCBS plans. This creates a real access problem: • Families are forced to pay out-of-pocket or go without care • Parents miss critical, time-sensitive lactation support • Evidence-based, preventive care is treated as optional This isn’t a convenience issue. It’s an access and equity issue. Lactation care improves health outcomes and lowers long-term healthcare costs—yet families who need it most are being shut out. 📣 CALL TO ACTION 👉 Sign the petition demanding that Blue Cross Blue Shield allow IBCLCs to become in-network providers 👉 Share this post and the petition link with families, providers, and advocates 👉 Help amplify patient voices, access changes when people speak up together Families deserve timely, affordable access to lactation care. IBCLCs deserve recognition as essential healthcare providers. And insurers must be held accountable. ✍️ Sign. Share. Speak up.
